The City of Port Huron is handing out free seed packs to city residents. The partnership with MIGardener is making the packs available for getting summer gardens planned. According to the publication from the City of Port Huron, the distribution is part of an “effort to bring self-sufficiency and food stability to our community amid the COVID-19 crisis”. The kits contain carrot, broccoli, lettuce, beet, tomato, radish, cucumber, green bean, cabbage, and kale seeds. The kits can be reserved by emailing your address to sprouts@porthuron.org. The city will then mail one to you. They can also be picked up at the city hall. As we reported last week, the City of Port Huron received an additional $462,000 from the federal government to address immediate basic needs for residents, including food stability.
