Although it may be summer, The U.S. Coast Guard says the Great Lakes are still dangerously cold. The Coast Guard is bringing awareness to boaters and swimmers that the water temperatures below 77 degrees can quickly cause hypothermia for someone who falls from a boat. In addition to wearing life jackets, the Coast Guard says mariners should dress according to the temperature of the water, not the air and that all five of the Great Lakes are well below the 77-degree mark.
