Trips to the pet groomer, along with all non-essential
veterinary procedures, are on hold due to an executive
order. Last week, the Governor clarified the restrictions in
a reissued order. Veterinarians are asked to practice
telemedicine as much as possible and to minimize use of
personal protective gear in order to save it for those
treating COVID-19 patients. When asked how they are complying, local Veterinary Technician Donna Precour, of In The Pink Mobile Pet Care, told us that they are
offering telemedicine video calls for clients as well as
medication drop offs if appropriate. Essential veterinary
services are limited to those that are agricultural in nature,
lifesaving, treating serious pain, euthanasia, and
prevention of animal to human disease transmission.
While health concerns can be addressed over the video
call, owners are going to have to wait or do it themselves
when their pet needs grooming.
