An Executive Order was signed earlier this week that requires grocery stores and pharmacies to set aside shopping hours for vulnerable residents and requires the wearing of face coverings within stores. Most stores were already setting aside special shopping hours, but it is now required, temporarily, for all grocery and pharmacy locations in the state. Vulnerable populations are those over 60, pregnant women, and those with chronic health conditions. Additionally, all shoppers are required to wear face coverings. The order states that shoppers who are able to medically tolerate a face covering must wear a covering such as a homemade mask, scarf, bandana, or handkerchief. The order also requires checkout workers to wear face coverings. The order closes any remaining in-house salad bars or free samples and affects any establishment that sells food. Violation is a misdemeanor.
