Governor Rick Snyder proclaimed October as Fire Prevention Month. Michiganders are urged to look for places fires could start in their homes and fix any potential fire hazards. Make sure that your home has working smoke detectors in place. Occupants should have and practice at least two escape routes in case of a fire. Helpful tips: Smoke detectors should be in place on every level of the home, especially in sleeping areas. Never leave cooking unattended. Clean the dryer lint screen after each load as lint is extremely flammable. Make sure all doors and windows leading outside are clutter free and easy to open. For more tips visit michgian.gov/BFS
