The Mid-City Nutrition Program served more than 100 meals on December 20th, to individuals in need at their annual Holiday event. Participants gathered for a meal consisting of steak, salmon, green bean casserole and various pies. Participants also received their choice of toys for kids, sweatshirt hoodies, or a bag full of groceries. St. Clair County Community Mental Health also helped during the Holiday event and even brought Santa Claus for individuals to receive a picture with the big man! CMH also led efforts for the “Great Grocery Gift” and encouraged community members to fill bags with a pre-selected list of grocery items. Due to the generosity of community members, approximately 85 bags were donated. Each grocery bag included 24 items including cereal, canned goods, crackers, rice, oatmeal and more. Other organizations that helped support the event included McLaren Port Huron, who donated food for the meal; Huron House, who grilled the steaks; Advia Credit Union who donated mugs; and many other donors who helped purchase hoodies.
