Today marks the 18th year since the attacks of September 11th that took the lives of 2977 people, injured approximately 6000, and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage. In the attacks, more than 90 countries had citizens that perished. The attacks were coordinated terrorist attacks by the islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda. Services of remembrance have taken place every year since the attacks. Ceremonies are held annually at the World Trade Center site, as well as the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. In communities all around the United States and in our own Blue Water Area citizens pause to remember.
