Two local high school graduates earned a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice through the Grads Giving Back contest. Graduating seniors from Blue Water area high schools submitted photos which demonstrated their volunteerism in the community and winners were picked through a public vote. Carolyn Brown, a graduate of St. Clair High School, raised money through the Pantry Project to purchase livestock at the St. Clair County 4H Fair for donation to local food pantries. Brown will continue at St. Clair County Community College in the fall, where she is enrolled in the Blue Water Middle College program. Emily Tetreau, a graduate of Port Huron Northern High School, volunteers for the Knights of Columbus, collecting donations to help those with intellectual disabilities. Tetreau will attend Michigan State University in the fall to study natural sciences.
