Jennifer Humes, an early childhood Special Education teacher at Millside Elementary School in Algonac, has been recognized as St. Clair County’s Distinguished Teacher for February. Humes was presented with the award during a surprise classroom visit on Tuesday, February 26th. Deana Tuczek, RESA director of Special Education, and former Millside colleague Laurie Agosta nominated Humes for the honor. In the nomination letter it said, “Jennifer creates a nurturing, engaging classroom where she uses visuals, hand-over-hand guidance and humor. She continuously supports her students to tackle new experiences and learn new tasks. Jennifer is an exemplary teacher and would be a strong model for all early childhood teachers.”.
