Local non-profit, Hunter Hospitality House, has had to temporarily close its doors, but they are not letting the “time off” go to waste. The organization normally offers lodging for those who have a loved one in a local hospital or for those who are seeking medical treatment themselves. With COVID-19 mitigation protocols, they have been forced to suspend services. They have installed large illuminated “hope” signs at both of their houses, adjacent to McLaren Hospital and Lake Huron Medical Center. Tracy Willard, Executive Director of Hunter Hospitality House, told us that they donated extra hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes to Visiting Nurse Association/Blue Water Hospice. She said that It’s important to Hunter Hospitality House to help any way they can right now, despite having the houses temporarily closed. They are also selling t-shirts with their logo for $15 with proceeds going to the Community Foundation of St. Clair County’s COVID-19 Response effort. Details can be found on the Hunter Hospitality House Facebook page.
