Robert Crawford, the current clerk for Fort Gratiot Township, has been elected by the Fort Gratiot Board of Trustees as the next Supervisor for Fort Gratiot Township. Crawford was confirmed in a unanimous 6-0 vote at a board meeting Friday night. Crawford will fulfill the remainder of the current term which expires November 20 of 2020. The position was left open after former Supervisor Jorja Baldwin stepped down July 4 to take a position on the St. Clair County Board of Commissioners. This appointment now leaves the position of Township Clerk open. At this time, the Fort Gratiot Board of Trustees is requesting all interested parties who reside within Fort Gratiot to submit a letter of interest and/or a resume to Fort Gratiot Township no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019.  Once all applicants are verified to meet the residence eligibility requirements, introductions of candidates are anticipated to occur on Tuesday, July 23 at a special meeting. Crawford will be sworn in as Supervisor within 45 days or when the Clerk position is filled.
