The Kimball Township Fire Department is celebrating Fire Prevention Week until the end of October. With the weather getting colder, the department offers a link on their Facebook page about Portable Heater safety. Here are some tips to consider. Always place a heater on a flat stable surface. Keep the heater at least three feet from any other object. Always check the cord of the heater for a worn out cord. Make sure to plug your heater directly into the wall, and don’t use an extension cord or power strip. In other news at the Kimball Township Fire Department, on Halloween, they will have a Trucks and Treats celebration at both the Allen Road station and the Henry Street station. They will be handing out candy, refreshments, and will offer candy safety inspections. There will also be a contest for the best costume. The event is from 5-8 pm on October 31st.
