The St. Clair County Board of Commissioners will be meeting remotely via Webex tonight. On the agenda are two requests to put millage renewals on the August ballot. The county Road Commission is asking for a renewal of the St. Clair County Transportation Millage. If approved and passed, the millage will raise funds to be used to improve and maintain roads, streets, and highways within the county and would be used as matching funds that are needed to obtain state and federal aid. The mill request is .25 mill renewed yearly for four years. It is estimated to raise over $1.5 million in the first year. The Sheriff’s Department is looking to put a Drug Task Force renewal on the August ballot, which would be a renewal of a .5610 mill levy. The money would fund the County’s Drug Task force for four years. The Drug Task Force is comprised of representatives from several law enforcement agencies and the Prosecuting Attorney’s office. It is expected to raise around $3.5 million in the first year.
