St. Clair County Community Mental Health (CMH) is sponsoring their annual Creative Arts Contest. Middle and High School students can tap into their creative side while helping the community’s overall well-being and possibly winning a cash prize. The theme for the High School and Middle School writing and art projects is “Healing, Hope and Recovery”. The goal of the contest is to “help educate both young people and adults about the value of connecting mind and body for individuals who live with mental illnesses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders”, according to CMH. Original non-digital art and works of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry are accepted. Details and official entry forms are on the CMH website. First place winner gets a $100 prize and multiple forms of publicity throughout the year. There are other prizes for the runners up. The deadline for submission of entries has been extended to May 1.
