The Red Cross continues to look for blood donors as well as COVID-19 convalescent plasma donors. The next blood drive in the Blue Water area is Monday, April 20 at the Marysville Knights of Columbus Hall. There is also one at Countryside Family Center in Sandusky on April 23. Several more are scheduled throughout May and June in the area. In addition to continuing to keep hospitals stocked with blood, the Red Cross has launched a new initiative with the FDA to recruit plasma donations from those who have recovered from COVID-19. The plasma can have potentially lifesaving treatment applications for those who are suffering from the virus. People who are fully recovered from the virus are potential donors. Michigan State University has created a national website for COVID-19 convalescent plasma donors and over 4,300 recovered COVID -19 patients have registered. Blood donation sign up and information about plasma donation can be found at Redcrossblood.org. Appointments are required.
