Anchor Bay, Marine City Cardinal Mooney and St. Clair High school advance to the State Finals through the Michigan High School Mock Trial Tournament. The State Finals will be held in Lansing, on Saturday, March 24. A total of ten teams from 4 regionals, hosted by Michigan Center for Civic Education, will compete at the State Finals. Mock Trial is a competitive extracurricular activity where students form teams to perform the roles of attorneys and witnesses in a simulated court case before a jury. The jury is comprised of actual judges, attorneys and citizens from the community. The competition is designed to reenact much of what might take place in trial courts. Students are coached by a partnership of at least one teacher coach and at least one lawyer coach, who volunteer their time and talents beginning in September.
