Michigan is home to 55 active licensed ski areas and more than 300 ski lifts. The licensing and regulatory affairs director Julia Dale has provided some safety tips to keep in mind when snowboarding or skiing on the slopes. Dale urges people to become familiar with how to use a chairlift, be constantly aware of others around you and keep tabs on changing snow conditions. Don’t try and tackle a slope that exceeds your ability level and wear protected eye gear. Make sure to look out for signs and warnings. Remember that people ahead of you have the right of way, and whenever starting downhill or merging, look uphill and yield to others.
